RS.179 crore disbursed to more than 1.90 lakh students under post-matric scholarship scheme

CHANDIGARH: Punjab Social Justice and Empowerment Minister Dr. Baljit Kaur, on Thursday, said that fulfilling another promise, Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann led Punjab Government has disbursed Rs.179 crore to students under Post-Matric Scholarship for SC Students Scheme and the amount has already been transferred to bank accounts of the beneficiaries under Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) Scheme. Notably, the cabinet minister on the day of taking charge of her office, directed the higher officials to clear pendency of scholarships up till March 2022 by all means.

CHANDIGARH: Taking serious note of the withholding of degrees of the SC students by private colleges/institutions owing to non-payment of fees after the closure of Post Matric Scheme for SC students by the Union Government in 2017, the Punjab Government today directed all the institutions to release degrees to such students within three days. MOHALI: Joint Association of Colleges (JAC) has rejected new Post Matric Scholarship declared by Punjab Govt. recently JAC said that the new education policy is meant for 2020-21. But our first question to Govt is what about the pending Post matric Scholarship of the year 2016-17 (415.60 crore), 2017-18 (Rs 538 crore); 2018-19 (Rs 437.19 crore) and 2019-20 (around 450 crore) which is accumulated to 1850 crores?
